If you keep exercising in the same way, you’ll keep getting the same results. It was only when I tried a different approach to movement that I was able to get really fit and strong without setbacks.

My true delight is passing on this learning to others.

Hi! I’m Tracy.

I’m a movement coach on a mission to help women see that they do not have to accept a ‘new normal’ as they age that is anything less than fabulous.

You see, I spent years in treatment for hip, back, bladder and pelvic issues, even though I exercised regularly and taught yoga part-time. It was only when I started following a whole-body approach to wellness, moving better, and moving more that I finally found relief.

In fact, I’m stronger and healthier at almost 50 than I was 20 years ago.

Along my healing journey I learned five movement breakthroughs that I share with my clients.

  • We need WAY more movement than we think we do.

  • Small changes can make a really big difference.

  • How you breathe truly matters.

  • The hour at the gym does not undo all the damage that is caused by too much chair-sitting.

  • Your movement and alignment habits can be wrecking your body.

I believe so strongly in this work that I quit my desk-job to teach better movement full-time.

If you are ready to step out of the conventional exercise box, let’s chat and see if movement coaching is right for you.

It may just be the solution you never even knew existed.

My journey.

Quitting my desk-job and helping others to move well, feel well and age well is my greatest privilege and joy.

Before becoming a movement coach, I worked for many years an editor and book designer.  My job required a whole lot of sitting and computer work, but I didn’t see that as a problem because I considered myself to be an ‘active’ person.

Growing up in South Africa meant many warm months spent swimming, cycling to the beach, and playing tennis. I took up yoga when I was 15 and have practiced it most days since then. When I moved  with my husband and daughters to Canada in 2008, I started teaching yoga part-time. I even bought (and used!) a treadmill and elliptical trainer to keep fit during the long Toronto winters.

I was doing all the right things, so why was my hip, back and neck pain getting worse. Regular physiotherapy, massage, and chiropractic treatments helped, but the pain would eventually return.

I had my third child at 42 – and that’s when the wheels really fell off. My hip pain was debilitating, and bladder urgency and leaking came seemingly out of nowhere!

The doctors said there was nothing wrong that required surgery (thankfully), and I was prescribed medication to manage the symptoms.

After three years of spot treatment and at least five office chairs later (in search of the ‘most ergonomic’ chair), I came across the work of biomechanist, Katy Bowman. I was out of options and ready to try something totally different. I started walking daily and following the alignment and corrective exercises outlined in Katy’s books and on her Nutritious Movement® website, and noticed my symptoms easing almost right away.

This whole-body, fit AND functional approach was the missing piece in my healing journey. I began to understand that the damage done to my body from sitting most of the day at my desk could not be magically undone by killing it at the gym for an hour, and that varied and natural movement is just as critical for my health as varied and natural food.

I was so inspired to share this knowledge and help others that I took Katy’s two-year course and certified as a Nutritious Movement® Restorative Exercise Specialist in 2017. During this time I also discovered Lauren Ohayon’s phenomenal yoga/Pilates-based Restore Your Core program, which taught me how to use breath to get my deep core to work and strengthen, while also resolving my pelvic floor issues. I completed Lauren’s RYC™ teacher training in 2017, and now specialize in core and pelvic floor wellness through movement.
